EXPORT OF WOOL
LARGE AUSTRALIAN INCREASE. . istii 1 PRIVATE SALES BY GROWERS, BUYERS REAP RICH. HARVEST. lUnitod Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) . SYDNEY, This Day. The weekly wool letter ini the “Sydney Morning Herald” says that there was no quotable change in the values at this week’s Sydney wool sales. The offerings totalled 47,853 bales, of which 92 per cent, were sold at auction. Catalogues averaged in the vicinity of 20Jd a lb. Selections were not quite so attractive as the earlier lots. A regrettable feature this year is that a number of growers sold their wool privately in the country at figures which enabled the buyers to make a profit of £6 to £7 a bale. Japan, Germany and France were vigorous operators during the week Tho difference in prico between fine and medium wools was not such as would adequately reward growers of fine wool.
From July 1 to December 31, 1933, exports of wool from the Commonwealth totalled 1,682,372 bales, showing an increase of 144,291 bales compared with the similar period of 1932.
