Built about si century ago, the front of the British 'Museum, London, is being cleaned for the first time. Soap and water only are being used, but the cleansing operation will cost' about £3OO. One of the least known slang names for a coin is that of "alderman," which is a nickname for half-a-crown, due, perhaps, to the fact Wat an* alderman mav be v looked upon as ''half a king" in his own ward.
