ACTIVITIES OF "C" COMPANY FIRST BATTALION CANTERBURY REGIMENT. On Monday evening the usual weekly meeting of the n.c.o. class was neid under Lieutenant J. S. Quinn, chere being a fair attendance. . Lewis gun work was carried out. The fortnightly parade of the Ashhurton Volunteers was held last evening "at the drill shed under the coni,mand of Lieutenants J. S. Quinn and A. I. Garriock, there being a good attendance. After the inspection was carried out, Sergeant-Ma]or W. Edmonds awarded the points for + he competition for the McElhinney Rose Bowi, No. 10 Platoon gaining the most points for the evening. The section commanders then took over the command cf their sections in Lewis gun work, familiarising the men with the working parts.. Questions asked by the officers showed that the n.c.o's. had imparted the instruction thoroughly. It has been decided to hold the monthly half-day parade on the range next Saturday when further classification shooting will he carried out. In the evening members of the Miniature Rifle Club of D (M.G.) Company, Timaru, will he entertained at the drill shed, when a return match will lie fired with the local volunteer rifle club.
