LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. BROTHER TO STAND TRIAL. (Per Press Association). WHANGAREI, September 12. Consequent on fatal injuries received by Mrs Eunice Emily Mary Gordon, a passenger in a car which collided with a' train on the Kamo Road level crossing on August 2, a verdict was returned that her subsequent death in hospital was due to fracture of the skull and laceration of the brain. The driver of the car, Warwick Ruysdael Claris, a farmer, of Marua (brother of deceased) was charged with manslaughter in that, by negligent driving, he caused the death of Mrs Gordon. He pleaded not guilty and was committed by two Justices' of the Peace for trial in the Supreme Court at Auckland. Bail was fixed at £IOO.
