ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET. THE CONCLUDING RESULTS. About 1000 store sheep were yarded at the Ashbiirton stock market yesterday, but only about 400 were sold. The concluding sales at the. market were as follow : Store Sheep—Forty cross-bred ewes at 16s id, 140 two-tooth full and failing mouth half-bred ewes at 9s 3d, 150 three-quarter-bred ewes at 18s Bd, 38 failing-mouth ewes at 8s 3d, 22 hoggets at 12s lOd, 54 wether hoggets at 13s 3d.

The potato market has shown a further weakness owing to the heavy shipments to the North Island, but merchants report a good many inquiries from Wellington and Auckland for Dakota and Sutton's Supreme.. Though growers are stated t° have fair quantities in hand there is not much offering, the growers not being prepared to accept the present prices. It is expected that all the wheat in farmers' hands will be marketed shortly, as September is the last month in which there is any increment paid. The Id a month increment commenced in April and was reduced to £d a month for August and September. Spring sowing is going ahead well, resulting in a seasonal demand for grain and seeds. The coastal and export trade in these lines is quiet. The favourable spring in the North Island has provided plenty of feed, and chaff is not wanted. The following are prices quoted to be paid to farmers, on trucks at npuntry stations, sacks included, unless -otherwise mentioned: — Wheat (initial payment)—Tuscan 3s 9d, Hunters 3s lid, Pearl 4s Id, f .o.b. for September. Fowl wheat—2s lOd to 3s for prompt, on trucks. Ryegrass—Perennial Is 8d to 2s; Italian Is 6d to Is lOd, Western Wolths Ls 6d to Is lOd.

3£d to 4£d, Plains 2|d to 3d. Clovers—White 8d to lOd, cowgrass 7d to Bd. Oats—ls 3d to ls lOd. Partridge Peas—3s 3d to 4s. Barley—Feed ls 6d to ls lOd. Potatoes —Whites, prompt £1 10s, Sutton's Supreme £2, Dakotas £2 to £2 ss.

Onions—£2 to £2 5s a ton Chaff—£2.

Bran—Shipping £4, local £4. Flour—£l3 12s a ton local, £l2 17s a ton for shipment to the North Island, with the usual increments for smaller packings.

AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, September 12. Potatoes have firmed, arrivals from the south being smaller than usual. Lines ex wharf are worth £4 15s to £5 a ton. Onions are selling at 9s to 10s per ewt for local, and 7s 6d for southern. The market for horse feed continues dull, with no alteration in values B Gartons are selling at 2s 9d a bushel, and chaff at £6 10s a ton. Reports from the country indicate irregularity in the maize market, and some lines have been offered at a few pence below recent rates. Through store prices are steady at 4s 3d a bushel. The mill price for pollard is £6 a ton; bran £5 10s. WHEAT PRICES IN BRITAIN. LONDON, September 11. Wheat cargoes are inactive and Australians and Plates are obtainable at 3d to 9d down. Manitobas are unchanged owing to pegging of Winnipeg prices, but the tone is easier. Parcels are offered at lsd to 3d down, with no buying interests. Futures are quoted: London :—September, 21s 3d per quarter ; December, 22s sd; February, 22s 9d. Liverpool: October, 5s per cental; December, 5s 2£d; March, 5s 4Jd; May, 5s 6£d.

BANK OF AUSTRALASIA AN INTERIM DIVIDEND. An interim dividend of 3s 6d a share, or at the rate of 7 ner cent, per annum, less British income tax of 5s in the £l, has been declared by' the Bank of Australasia. The dividend is payable on October 6, and at any branch of the bank at the current rate of exchange for sight drafts on London on the date of negotiation. The Australian list of proprietors will be closed on September 11. Interim last year was 3s a share, and final dividend 4s a share.
