THE OFFICIAL ASSIGNEE
g.i rj —i was pleased to. read your timely leader last week regarding removing the Official Assignee from Ashburton. I am sure it is ft .retrograde step and false economy for Ashburton County to be treated thus. Can nothing be" done by cur member ? He is one of the ruling' nartv. There is also another office or two that could easily be joined; that is the Old Age Pensions and the Deputy-Coroner. Ashburton is the and all the business possible should be centred here, instead of staking the business 50 or 60 miles north or south. Can nothing be done to prevent our town becoming a small stopping place to refresh on the way ? I feel sure that in time we can hold our own with other towns both north and south. I say sincerely, wake up all interested and make yourselves felt at headquarters. AN OLD RATEPAYER.
