FAMOUS SHORTHORNS.

PURCHASED FOR NEW ZEALAND. BROWNDALE BUGLER’S RECORD. (Special to the “ Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, August 26. Advice was recently received that Mr D. Buchanan, owner of the Tupurupuru stud Shorthorn herd at Masterton was successful in securing the 18-months-old Shorthorn bull, Browndale Bugler, who is considered to be one oi the best Shorthorn bulls yet bred in Canada. Browndale Bugler was bought for use in the Prince of Wales’s stud herd in Calgary, but by an act of grace on the part of his Royal Highness, permission was given enabling shipment of the bull to New Zealand. Among the bull’s show successes, in addition to the junior championship at the Toronto Exhibition, was the carrying off of everything before him in the Shorthorn competitions, when he was awarded also an. unusual honour for a youngster the grand championship. Some years ago Mr Buchanan secured in Canada the outstanding champion hull, Mayflower Stamp. This bull had not only been successful in Canada, but was also an outstanding winner in the United States. Browndale Bugler has also met some of the best bulls bred in the United States, as wel] as other ones in Canada. Mr Buchanan’s enterprise will enable this bull to breed on to the splendid stock left in the Tupurupuru herd'by Mayflower Stamp. Browndale Bugler is a magnificent animal. With a perfect head and horn, great style, magnificent lines, and perfect conformation, his magnificent coat and outstanding quality indicate that he is a wonderfully well-fleshed bull. Both he and Mayflower Stamp descend from the famous, record-priced, £6OOO- - Shorthorn bull, Collynie White Knight, and are descended* from the same female line. There is, therefore, every reason to suppose that they will nick particularly well. Browndale Bugler was born on October 19, 1931, and was bred by Messrs James Douglas and Sons, and is by the imported Scotch-bred bull, Oruggleton Bugler, who was bred by that noted Scottish breeder, Mr James Wallace. This bull is considered to be the outstanding breeding bull in Canada today. In addition to this outstanding blood, Browndale Bugler is out of a famous daughter in Duchess of Gloster 42nd of Bi;owndale Coronet, wJio was also outstanding as a champion and famous sire in his day. His second dam, Maxwalton 23rd, is by one of the most renowned bulls in the American Shorthorn history in Rodney, and the third dam was by another notable breeding bull of his time in Maxwalton Renown.

Every bull in the pedigree of Mr Buchanan’s latest purchase was renowned in his time as a famous breeding bull.
