METHVEN TROTTING CLUB. The committee of the Methven Trotting Club met last evening. Mr S. G. Holmes presided and there were also present Messrs W. S. Jones, J. H. McKendry, W. J. Bennett, R. D. Millar, J. McCloy, C. Goodwin, G. Kelly, W. J. Cooksley, H. Green (lion treasurer), J. McAnulty and A. E. Henderson. A vote of sympathy with Mr T. S. Harrison in, his recent bereavement was carried in silence.

The following wrote accepting appointments for the annual race meeting on September 30: Messrs F. B.’ Robilliard, R. G. Shearman, timekeepers; A. R, Allardyce, lion, judge; Dr. D. G. Wallace, lion, surgeon; A. J. Hastings, starter; J. R. McLeod, hon. veterinary surgeon, and P. L. Donald, clerk of the course.

The New Zealand Trotting Association returned the club’s programme approved. The secretary reported that he had again interviewed Mr W. H. McDougall in reference to the totaliator arrangements and a number of alterations to the totalisator building to enable the club to cater for win-and-place betting had Jbeen found, necessary. It was agreed to have the necessary work done immediately. Arrangements the same as last year had been made with Messrs Burke and Co. for catering, and the Railway Department had agreed to the same train arrangements, which, had been found most satisfactory. The secretary’s action was approved and a new member was elected. The question of purging the members was left to the secretary and treasurer, who were authorised to go into the matter of issuing tickets to those in arrears.

it was agreed to engage the Ashburton Silver Band to play at the meeting, and the Secretary was authorised to engage the Ashburton County Ambulance at the usual fee.
