OS* NORTH-WEST WIND CONTINUES A strong north-west wind blew all day to-day and conditions were unpleasant in the town. The sun shone at intervals but although the temperature was mild this morning the wind became fresh a little later in the day. The barometer dropped five points overnight, the reading at 9 o'clock this morjang being 29.22 inches, compared with 29.72 inches yesterday morning. Extreme shade .temperatures recorded at the Domain weather station, yesterday and last night were 61.2 degrees and 38 degrees, while those on Tuesday were 59.8 degrees and 32.5 degrees. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— Genera] inference: A deep westerly depression is crossing .the Dominion today. It is being followed by an intense a nti-cyclone, the centre of which was this morning over South Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Strong northerly winds to gales, backing to southerlies during the next 24 hours. Weather : Squally and changeable, with rain in the western ranges and extending: later to eastern parts. Snow on the high levels. Temperatures becoming cold. Seas: Rough.
