THE CHURCH ARMY.
SERVICES IN ASHBURTON. Following a prayer meeting last evening, tlie Church Army column at present visiting Ashburton, marched to the Somerset corner where an openair service was held. Captains E. It. Roe, J). Kee, and F. C. Pearce and Sister M. K. North spoke, while Sister K. A. J'utson sang a solo. A service held later in St. Stephen’s Church was attended by about 250, Captain E. E. Beck conducting it. Captains Poo and Kee gave short addresses. Meetings for men and women were held after the service, Captains Beck, Roe and Kee speaking to about 40 men in the Parish Hall, and Sister North addressing over 100 women in the Church. Sister Jutson conducted a women’s meeting this afternoon again, while Sister North spoke to the Timvald branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Four members of the column visited the Ashburton Technical School to-day, and Ccptain T. S. Torrens spoke at the Ashburton Borough School this morning.
