EPINARD.
SIRE OF 2000 GUINEAS WINNER. Rodosto, the winner of the Two Thousand Guineas last-week, the iirst of fhe great .English classics, is a chestnut colt by the former French crack, Epinard, out of Enmondie, by Neil Gow (2000gns.) from La Eille, hy Macdonald IT. from Eecaldia, by Boudoir. Rodosto, who is owned by P i-inces.se do Faucigny-Lucinge, was bred, in France and last season was one of the leading two-year-olds of the Republic. He won the Third Prix Herod Matchein, seven furlongs (147,325 IT.), and was placed in three other important races. Epinard, the sire of Rodosto, went to the United States for the famous series of international races that took place in 1924. He returned to France and two years later was again on his way to New York. In 1928 lie returned to France and again left in 1930 for the United States. He returned again to France last year. Foaled in 1920, Epinard was a highclass racehorse in France, and. in England at three years won the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood. He was beaten a neck hy Verdict (receiving 181 b) in the Cambridgeshire. The success of the two-year-old stock of Epinard in France last season created a big- de-
maud for his services and Rodosto was recognised as being in the first flight of his progeny.
