A BRIGHT, CLEAR DAY. Conditions in Ashburton yesterday were dull, but, following a cold night, to-day broke bright and clear and the sun shone in a cloudless sky all day. There was only a light breeze from the northeast, and conditions were most pleasant. A cyclone is located over the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Freshening northeast to northerly winds. Weather fair to fine, with rising temperature, but clouds increasing and unsettled conditions, likelv after about 24 hours. Seas moderate, southerly swell now decreasing.
