EXPENDITURE ON RELIEF. £19,900 IN ASHBURTON COUNTY. AN INTERESTING REPORT. It was revealed in a report presented to the Ashburton Comity Council today that a sum of no less than £19,933 10s 4d has been .spent in the County on unemployment relief work in the past twelve months. The Unemployment Board has agreed that relief workers be given Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday and Anzac Day as holidays on pay. These holidays will be given to men who would work on these days in the ordinary course and are not to be Considered as holidays for those whose work falls on other days of the week or those standing down.
