MT. HUTT DISTRICT.
DECISIONS OF THE ROAD BOARD The monthly meeting of .the Alount Hutt Road Board was held on Wednesday. There were present Alessrs F. W. Ruddenklau (chairman), R. J. S. Wilson, A. F. Alarr and C. A. Campion. The clerk reported that the maintenance staff had metalled Rakaia. River Road from Air W. K. Wilson’s property, south. The metal had been blinded with clay and a satisfactory job had been done. The crusher had put through 309 *ards of metal, while a further l'2yds had been put on Rarlcer’s Road for patching. The . grader had been working on Lyndhurst, Springfield and Pole Line Roads anrl was now working on Barker’s Road. Owing to a motor lorry damaging the storm water channel bridge on the Role Line Road, the bridge had been closed for traffic and fenced off. The clerk presented a statement of accounts which showed that £l3Bl 18s 8d had been collected in rates for the last year, leaving £486 8s 8d outstanding. Since March 31, £3l 4s 7d had been received. The outstanding rates will incur a penalty of 10 per cent. The clerk reported that Alessrs F. W. Ruddenklau, A. F. Alarr and O. A. Campion would retire by rotation at the end of April. The Ashburton County Council advised that 6d would be paid for rat tails for six months from March 7. In connection with a, petition received some time ago from ratepayers asking for an extension of iDolma Street to provide access for a stock rout to the railway, the clerk was instructed to proceed with the work as soon as labour was available. Transfers from the Public Trust Office to Daisy Isabel Harrison and .to Nellie Hampton Kermode were approved.
