(From Our Own Correspondents.) HINDS. A bullock that was to be yarded in the township caused a lot of trouble and annoyance to residents. The animal became unmanageable jind being pressed hard, by a mouhjed man, plunged tnrough many fences. Eventually it had to be shot on the roadside. Complaint is made of damage to fences caused by trees felled by County Council gangs engaged in clearing up the various reserves. PEMDARVES. Mr and Mrs Bush entertained members of the Bible Class at her homo! A pleasant time was spent, with music, games and competitions. Officers were elected for the coming year, also two new members. After supner Mr S. Hurst thanked Mr and Mrs Bush for their hospitality. The tennis club will close its season on Saturday, when the trophies won will be presented LAURISTON. At the monthly meeting of the Farmers' Union, Mr W. Penney presided. Motions of sympathy with Messrs W. Letham and YV. Goodwin were passed. Mr W. Ri. Harris gave a lecture on "Fertilisers," with partciular reference to top-dressing. The lecturer was assisted by Mr Beck in showing lantern slides to illustrate the main points of the lecture. On the motion of Mr C. Fyfe, Messrs Harris and Beck were accorded a vote of appreciation.
