INSECT PEST.
DIAMOND-BACK MOTH. (Special to the " Guardian.") MASTERTON, April 3. Replying to an inquiry by Mr W. C. Deller, of Carterton, regarding insect pests, Mr J. Muggeridge, entomologist at the Department of Agriculture Plant Research Station, Palmerston North, writes:—"The insect causing the damage to your crops is the wellknown pest, diamond-back moth. I regret to say that there is no suitable method of dealing with this insect a field scale, though so far as a small garden patch is concerned, spraying the plants with lead arsenate—2lb in 100 gallons—plus Kayro spreader—|lb in 100 gallons—is a suitable control for the pest."
