A SEARCHER MISSING.
’PLANE OFF NEW JERSEY COAST. REPORT BY AIRPORT OFFICIALS. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 4. The airport officials at Floyd Bennett Field notified this afternoon that a naval ’plane that was searching for wreckage of the Akron is missing off the coast of New Jersey. BRITAIN DEEPLY SHOCKED. A NATIONAL DISASTER. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, April 4. The Akron had a gas capacity of 6,500,000 cubic feet, compared with 5,000,000 of the British RIOO and 2,500,000 of the American Los Angeles. Admiral Moflet was tiny American delegate to the London Naval Conference. British people are deeply shocked by the event, and the utmost sympathy is felt for America in the. national disaster. Many messages have been sent. —British Official Wireless. “NO MORE BIG AIRSHIPS.” TWO LOST OUT OF THREE. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 4. The chairman of the House of Representatives Naval Committee (Mr Minson) said there would not be any more big airships built.. The United States had built three and lost two.
