ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

ORDER OF RECHABITES. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Council of the Independent Order of Rechabites, was held at the Methodist Schoolroom, Baring Square, Ashburton, on Saturday afternoon. About thirty delegates from Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru were present. Interesting reports were received from the Pro. Chief Ruler (Sister Bunt), the Provincial Secretary (Bro. Bayliss, P.S.F.M.), Sister Schenkeii and P.S. J. Bro. Saunders. Eacli report showed that while Tents were more or less feeling the times of depression, each section showed a marked increase, which was gratifying. The reports were adopted, and the officers thanked. , Remits brought forward by the Riecarton Tent regarding the initiation competition, and calendars and diaries being printed in New Zealand, were referred to the respective executives. The matter of the Provincial Government was left in the hands of representatives elected to place the matter before til Tents in due course. The election of officers resulted as follows:—P.C.R., Bro. Good; P.D.R., Bro. Nuttall; P. Sec. and Treas., Bro. D. Bunt; P. Levite, Bro. Rhind; P. Guardian, Sister Martin; P. Auditor, Bro. C. U. Bascand; P.S.F.M., Sister Dell; P.S.J.M., Bro. C. Saunders; Rep. Juv. Exe., Sister Martin and Dell; Rep. United F. Soc., Bro. Williams; Newsagent, Bro. Hassall; Pro. Reporter, Sister Hull. A Jiearty vote of thanks was passed to retiring members and officers, mention being made of the work done by the Secretary (Bro. Bayliss) and the Superintendent of Female members (Sister Schenkeii). The election of a judge for the initiation competition was held over until the next meeting of the Council. At 8.10 p.m. the Council adjourned to the monthly meeting of the Ashburton Tent, where Bro. Pethick extended a .cordial welcome to the delegates. The D.C.R. (Bro. C. x 7. Bascand) installed the Provincial Officer, Bro. Martin (P.D.C.R.) and Sister Bunt (D.S.F.M.) acting as installing Levites. The newlyi-elected officers returned thanks. Sister Bunt and Bro. Nuttall spoke on behalf of the Council, assuring the Ashburton and Timaru delegates that any requests from them would be given full consideration and help extended to them any time it was asked for. Bro. H. P. Smith said it was lus pleasing duty to pass a hearty vote pf thanks to members of the Ashburton Tent who had showif such wonderful hospitality to the members of the Council, and had made their visit such a memorable one. The thanks of the Council were also due to Bro. Ferriman for the souvenir he provided for each delegate. Bro. G. W. Andrews, who has been a Rechabite for a very large number of years, displayed to the delegates a certificate which had been signed 9o years ago. It was a source of inteiest to the delegates. The Ashburton members entertained the delegates to suppr, and so terminated one of the mosT' enjoyable annual meetings of the Council.
