ASHBURTON SHOW ENTRIES.
378 MORE THAN LAST YEAR.
SHEEP MAKE BIG ADVANCE. Last year's recora of 2423 entries for the Ashburto-n Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show has been surpassed this year by the entry of 2801 exhibits for the show which is to be held next Thursday.
There has been a steady advance in entries in the past four years, as follow: 1929, 2068; 1930, 2259; 1931, 2423; 1932, 2801. The record established last year has been passed by 378, most of this gain being in the sheep, cookery <a#d needlework sections. Sheep have advanced by 124, and the other sections by 217. The donation of a huge silver rose bowl has no doubt accounted for the increased attention given to the cookery and needelwork classes. A new section; that for rabbits, has brought in no fewer than 43 entries. Cattle are three below those of last year and horses are 12 clown, but pigs and dogs both show increases. Following are details of the entries, with those for the past two years :
