HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES LOCAL BODIES AND RENTS. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. In the House of Representatives this morning the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, replying to Mr F. Jones (Dunedin South), said it was the Governments intention to bring down an amendment, which would lie referred to a select committee in order that evidence might be taken for and against the proposal, to repeal the provisions of the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, which stipulates that local bodies shall not bo required to reduce rentals to an amount below 5 per cent, of the unimproved value. The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill (Mr Mason') was read the first time. The debate on the Budget was continued and was proceeding when the House adjourned at 1 p.m.
