HUNDRED TO ONE CHANCE SCARCELY A BACKER OF WINNER. (Received This Day, J.-. 30 p.m.) LONDON, October 26. It is years since 100 to 1 chances were first and third in an important handicap. The bookmakers lhad the time of their lives. Scarcely a backer found the win net of the Cambridgeshire Stakes, though one lucky man named the two horses in a special “tote pool,” and got £1773 for an outlay! of 10's. Pullover was entered only because a brother and sister had a friendly bet where Pal o’ Mine, which is owned by Sir Edward Tate, or the sister’s horse Pullover, was the better at the weights. Apart from the family wager Mrs Robinson had only 40s on Pullover. The success of the winner smashed thousands of double event wagers on the Cesarewitch and Cambridgeshire.
