SCENIC BOARD MEETS.
MANY NEW TRACKS CUT
The Peel Forest Scenic Board met on Saturday afternoon, when there were present Messrs J. MI. H Tripp (chairman), H- D. AclandWH Walton, W. Osman, W. A- McPhail and Dr. Acland. A tender from Messrs Milhchamp Bros, for planting two acres of reserve in Douglassi was accepted. As it is now late in the season, it was agreed on the suggestion of the tenderers to have the work carried out next spring. It was agreed to accept Mr J. ltees s offer to lease reserve 1803 at £3 a year. A petition was received from 52 residents asking that the proposed swimming bath should be constructed in the township. . , As the Board had previously set aside £SO toward the provision of a swimming pool at Bland's Wood, it was decided to offer a similar sum toward the cost of a swimming batli on the reserve in the township. • The secretary and ranger (Mr br. Evans) reported that new tracks had been cut from Bland's Wood to meet those at Acland's Falls, making a total of seven miles or more of tracks through the bush. He also reported that additional parking places Had jheeii provided for cars;. It was decided that Te Wanahu Flat should be graded and sown down, thus ! making available several acres ot 1 playing grounds for picnickers and campers. ... , „ It was agreed to share the cost of erectino- a fence on the boundary ot JVli J Gain's property and the reserve. The re-appointment of representatives on the' Board was notified as follow -.—South Canterbury Automobile Association, Mr W: H Walter: Canterburv Automobile Association, Mr W Osman; Ashburton County Council,' Mr H. C B. Withell; Geraldme County Council, Mr W. A. Macphail.
