TIMARU RACES. THE CONCLUDING EVENTS. (Special to "The Guardian.") TIMARU, This Day. The spring meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club was held on Saturday in hot weather. There was a large attendance and some excellent racing. Two horses fell in the Tycho Hack Handicap, L. Pratt, the rider of Congo, breaking a thigh. The totalisator investments were £9890 10s. Last year the total on the first day (Thursday) was £9186 and on the second day (Saturday) £12,926 10s. Concluding events:— Timaru Cup, of 200 sovs; one mile and a quarter—2 Mount. Boa (T. MELBOURNE, October 17. There was showery weather for the concluding day of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting, the attendance suffering. There were a few New Zealanders present. , Denis Boy was in the rear division early in -the Caulfield 1 Cup. He moved up at the turn and finished brihantly. A. Knox, rider of the winner, stated that he had the race won at the turn. T. Webster, rider of First Acre, said he had a good run on the rails all the way, but his mount was not good enough.
