MATCH ENDS IN A DRAW.

VISITORS SCORE ONLY 89 RUNS.

(Received This ©ay, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 12. After an eventful day’s cricket, Now Zealand managed to force a draw. They forced the pace. After luncheon, however, the wicket commenced to dry and become sticky, being almost ideal for Parker and Goddard, Gloucester’s famous bowlers. New Zealand were dismissed' for 89. Even Dempster was lucky in reaching 37. j Hammond) and Sinfield gave sound, displays for Gloucestershire, whose second innings was declared closed at 86 for four wickets. A, heavy roller between the innings improved the wickets. New Zealand were left with 90 minutes to score 130 for a victory. _ Parker and Goddard were again difficult, the former taking his 100th wicket for the season, dismissing Dempster. New Zealand had lost six wickets for 65 runs 'when stumps were drawn. Lowry and Blunt defended soundly. Gloucester had the honours of the game, which was practically confined to a single day, and 1 was hardly a fantest. . . Nine leg before wickets decisions against the New Zealanders were a disappointing feature. Scores:— GLOUCESTERSHIRE. First Innings. HIS SELECTION CRITICISED. (Received This Day, 5.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 12. “I suppose the selectors are thinking reallv more about 1932 than New Zealand/’ writes M. D. Lyon iu the “Daily Mail,” criticising Jardine’s selection as captain in the English team in the test match against the Dominion cricketers. “Has Jardine the personality for a tost match captain?” asks Mr Lyons. “Ho is quiet, cool and determined, but uninspiring. It is doubtful whether he would get 100 per cent’, value from the field, and also whether the selectors were justi-

fied in giving him captaincy of a threeday test, when obviously all they have in their minds is to find a captain for the tour of Australia. It is of great psychological importance to England to beat New Zealand decisively. I query if Jardine is tho man to do i - ”
