QUINNAT SALMON.
QUESTION OF NATURAL FOOD. (Special to “The Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. Basing his opinion on thirty years experience of fishing olf the coast cf New Zealand. Mr W. A. D/Ondant, a resident of Addington, said to-day that quinnat salmon were getting so numerous that- if they were not supplied with a natural food they would simply destroy all the fish in the New Zealand rivers and the sea as well. “My authority fer saying this,” Mr D’Oridant added, “is that in mjl long experience of fishing off the coast- of New Zealand the catches of sea fish have decreased by about 80 per cent. The salmon, being one of the most prolific fish and undoubtedly one of the fastest swimmers, no fish can get away from it.”
