SWASTIKA OR CROSS. BISHOPS ISSUE MANIFESTO. (United Press Association —Copyright). BERLIN, March 18. The Swastika cross, the Nazis’ symbol, is the battle-emblem against the Cross of Christ' says a manifesto issued at Frankfurt by the Catholic bishops. The manifesto forbids Roman Catholics becoming members of the Nazis on the grounds that the ideas of that, organisation are opposed to Catholicism, notably the declaration favouring all religions in so far as they do not violate the moral sense of the Germanic race. The bishops pronounce this declaration to be anti-Christian as it permits race sentiment te judge God’s law. They regard the aims of the Nazis as including the establishment .of a new German National Church, separatee, from the Catholic Church.
