"CUTS" RESISTED
AFRICAN RAILWAY ARTISANS. AFRICAN RAILWAY ARTISANS. THREAT OF "GO-SLOW" TACTICS. (United Press Association—Copyright). (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) CAPE TOWN. March 17. Anticipating the enforcement of "cuts" in wages, railway artisans on April 1 will make a joint deputation of artisans, trade unionists coming from Johannesburg, to present an ultimatum to the Minister to withdraw the "cuts," otherwise a "go-slow" strike will begin immediately. They declare that recent months indicate an improvement in the railway revenue. The Minister hinted that the "cuts" would be limited probably to half a year. If the deputation fails the men will develop a dispute leading to the appointment of a Judicial Commission.
