MARRIED WOMAN TEACHER. (Per Press Association). NELSON, March 17. In February notice of the termination of her engagement was given a woman teacher in the country who had recently married a. teacher of an adjoining ' school. The Education Board has now been notified that tho Educational Institute is acting on Irehalf of the teacher. Mr F. W. O. Smith, a member of the Board, said that a number of teachers were idle andi it should be the privilege of married women teachers to give way to voting teachers. Mr J. H. Harkness said that the Board had no power to dismiss a woman teacher because she Avas married. The Hon. W. Mclntyre said that the Board had accomplished something ini drawing attention to the matter and bringing things a step nearer the desired end. He realised the institute would win on legal grounds. It was decided to rescind the resolution of dismissal.
