BENZOLE FROM COAL.
MANUFACTURE PROPOSED. (Special to "The Guardian.") WELLINGTON, March 17. According to Mr Kyle (Kiecarton), the Christehurch.Gas Company proposes to manufacture benzole from coal, and lie has asked the Government if it will guarantee not lo impose an excise duty on this product, so as to encourage the company in undertaking a process which will employ additional labour and utilise 2000 tons of coal per annum. , Benzole, it may be added, wou.d come into competition with imported motor spirits on which there is a tax ol (kl per gallon.
