CAPSIZED YACHT.

NO SIGN OF THE CREW. ANXIETY FOR TWO COLLEGE MEN (Per Press Association). NELSON, March 11. Tire steamer Opihi reported sighting two hundred yards off Pipins Island, ~ Cable Bay, at 11 o’clock this -morning, a small sailing craft about twenty feet in length on her beam ends,- with Jrer two masts partly out of the water, and the jib set, but the other sails-furled. The boat was painted white on the hot- ■ tom. There was a red and green flag on the mast. It was too near to th<vshore for the steamer to venture closer, and too roupjh to launch a boat. Seeing no signs of life, the steamer came on to Nelson. The pilot-launch was dispatched immediately, ibut saw no sign of the boat. . A considerable sea is running; Settlers , are searching the coast. BOAT FROM NEW PLYMOUTH. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 11. With reports to hand that a small yacht with sails set- has been sighted' upside down ten mile£ north-east of Nelson, fear is felt for the safety two young men, Messrs S. Silvester, assistant lecturer in geology at Canterbury College, and M. C. R. Hudson, an engineering student at Canterbury College, who left- New Plymouth “ last Thursday in an 18ft. yawl-rigged yacht hound for Lyttelton after t-lre vacation. Air Hudson, is a son of Air J. R. Hudson, of. Eltham. The boat, which left New Plymouth at 10.30 p.m. on Thursday, was a dirty white colour, flew a green flag on which two letters were joined, had a green deckhouse, and instead of a centre-board had a railway rail to give it weight. There were two tanks for the .storage of water. One of tire anchors was a disused lawn-mower. The boat was last reported by the steamer Kaitoa off Cape Egmont.
