AIR MAIL TRIAL.

Chaplin will set out in April in a Vickers Napier mail carrier capable of travelling 135 miles an hour, to demonstrate that an air mail is possible to Australia in 10i days, flying from dawn till dusk.

In order to demonstrate the practicability of a fast mail service' within the Empire, Captain Neville Stack proposes to leave Croydon on April 1 on an experimental flight with mails to Australia. The airman hopes to fly to Darwin ah id hack in 21 days, only one of which would be spent at Darwin. He will use a Vickers bomber, converted as a mailcarrier, with a top speed of 150 miles an hour. The Associated Chambers of Commerce will send letters to all the Australian Chambers of Commerce, and efforts are being made to induce the Post Office to frank the letters as air mail.
