CAR AND ’BUS COLLIDE. WOA?AN FATALLY INJURED. (Special to the “Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. Airs R AY. Loch head, of 7, AA r estern Terrace, Cashmere, who was seriously injured when the motor-car in which she was riding collided with the Oxford ’bus at the intersection of Canon and Madras Streets, St. Albans, late this morning, died in Hospital this afternoon. The ’bus, which is one of Mr b. E. Clements’s fleet, was going east along Canon Street on its way to the garage, and the car, driven by Air Lochhead, was travelling south. The cars met with a loud crash, the force of the collision sending them against an electric light pole, which was considerably loosened at the bottom. Many electric wires came down. Air Lochhead’s car was badly damaged. Both guards were smashed,'the front tyre was burst, two doors were pushed in and the back and side windows smashed. The running-boards were crumpled, being pushed in under the chassis, and the top badly ripped. The ’bus fared lightly, only the mudguard., lamp and running-board being damaged. . v . Air Lochhead escaped iinjury, as did also Air S. Grieg, the driver of the ’bus. There were no passengers in the ’bus, which was returning to the garage empty.

fiOY INJURED BY MOTOR-CAR. HASTINGS, June U. Hugh, the six-year-olcl son of Air D. H. AlcLeod, licensee of the Hastings Hotel, is in hospital suffering from severe injuries to his head and face as the result of being knocked down bv a motor-car driven by Samuel Cobb. AN UNUSUAL FATALITY. AUCKLAND, June 11. Unusual circumstances were described at the inquest ligld by the Coroner (Air F. K. Hunt) into the death of Henry Crowne, a married man, aged 44, who died in the Auckland Hospital on March 28 as a result of injuries to his head received in an accident on June 29, 1929. Crowne was admitted to hospital on the day of the accident in a grave condition. He was discharged on August 10, and admitted on Alarch 27. He died the following morning. Dr. L. A. Spedding said Crowne was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition with a severe fracture of the skull on June 29, 1929. For some days lie was in a grave state, but recovered, and was discharged on August 10. He was brought to the hospital on Alarch 27, and died the following morning. _ Dr. AV. Gilnjour, who made the postmortem examination, said death was due to a fracture of the skull, which showed signs of healing, but could easily bo parted. Laceration of the brain had been present for some time. The Coroner returned a verdict of accidental death.
