THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS. UNSUCCESSFUL FLY FISHING. (United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON. June 1. As fly fishers the Australians are not as good as they are at cricket. Woodfull and Hornibrook were among those entertained to-day by the Marylebone Cricket Club committee at Southampton Manor, owned by Colonel C. Heseltine. Attired in waders, they unsuccessfully tried for an hour and a-half to coax the trout to rise. Though fish, were plentiful, they were only in fair state. This was the Australians’ first attempt. The cricketers, however, did not return emptyhanded. the manager (Mr Kelly) carrying home a parcel containing his host's catch of trout, which the hotel chef is preparing for the Australians’ breakfast.
A number of players this morning inspected, the liner Leviathan. This afternoon they were all guests of Lord Forster (ex-Governor-General of Australia), who was a former Hampshire player. They saw Sir Thomas Lipton’s new yacht, Shamrock V., through a telescope from Lord Forster’s residence at Lepe.
