HINDS. r At a meeting of the committee of the Hinds Football Club, Mr F. Hood •presiding, 1 permission was leceivea from the XJnion to play the annual match against Waihi on Saturdaj. After some discussion, it was decided to defer the entering of a junior team in the competition until after next general meeting. The . captain and Messrs Hood and Mornn were appointed team selectors. RAKAIA. i The first of a serie’s of socials to be held during the winter months by tne Rakaia Football Club was held on Wednesday evening. There was a large attendance and a very enjoyable time was spent. CHERTSEY. Since Sunday there has been intermittent rain, but a good downfall is Still needed. _ , ~ ? The Chertsey Lodge, 1.0.0. F. held its quarterly meeting in the local hall, when .there was a fair attendance. The election of officers , was postponed until next meeting. Mr Ironside left on Monday on an extended visit to Britaini. i; i LISMORE. , After several days of threatening conditions, rain set in on Tuesday, and increased to a heavy downpour during the night, but eased! off on Wednesday afternoon. Rain again set in this morning. Turnips, green feed and pastures, which were showing the effect of the dry spell, are greatly refreshed.
