. , 4 VAN GOES OVER BANK. DRIVER’S REMARKABLE ESCAPE (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 10. Mr Victor Milne, a young man, had a remarkable escape to-day when a delivery van he was driving hurtled over a 20ft. bank and burst into flames. On a' corner Mr Milne met a car driven by a woman, and swerved to avoid a collision. The yan crashed through a fence afld rolled down the bank. Mr Milne extricated himself from the damaged vehicle in time to escape burns. He went to a nearby house ‘ for assistance, and on returning to the scene fainted. His condition to-night is satisfactory, extensive bruisino- being the only apparent injury apart from shock. WORKMAN ELECTROCUTED. STRATFORD, This Day. Mr Timothy O’Keefe, aged 27, a i single workman on tlie railway construction works at Tangarakau, was found dead early this morning, the cause of death being electrocution. KILLED INSTANTLY BY A TREE. MARTON, This Day. While engaged felling trees on a farm near Marton to-day, John Thomas O’Shaughnessy, aged 20, Vas killed instantly by being struck on the head by a falling tree.
