THE SUEZ CANAL

QUESTION OF SECURITY. NEW ZEALAND’S ATTITUDE. BRITAIN MUST PROJECT ROUTE. / (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Dav, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, April 10. From the fa.pt that there have been two long sessions of the Anglo-Egyp-tion Conference to-day it may he taken for granted that the thorniest patches have been reached.

Manyt people are of opinion that Air Henderson made a false step in announcing the terms of the draft treaty before the Wafdists had shown their hands, but it is also believed' tliat the Egyptians now face the real meaning of extreme limit and are resorting to quibble, mainly relating to the Suez Canal, concerning which Australian and New Zealand observers at the Conference are showing anxiety. They insist that the Canal, as a vital link in the Empire chain of communications, must be protected by Britain alone.
