Aliss AI. AI. Coutts who has been general science mistress at the Technical School for the past year, yesterday resigned her position, the resignation to take effect on Aiay 26.
/A Christchurch telegram states that Archdeacon Harold Purchas, who was injured in the crossing smash at Hornby on Thursday, is now off the seriorously ill list and is progressing satisfactorily. 1
A Hamilton telegram states that Mr John MeCaw, an old and respected resident, died yesterday morning, aged 80. Mr MeCa w was one of "the most prominent farmers in the Waikato. For years he was Waikato Estates manager for the now defunct Assets Realisation Board, formed at the time of the hanking crisis in 1894, to realise the property assets of the Bank of New Zealand. His headquarters were at Matamata. and on that estate being acquired by the Government for closer settlement, he purchased the homestead block. Air Ale Caw was prominent in many local body affairs, both before and after his retirement to Hamilton. He was a native of Ayrshire, Scotland, and possessed all the commendable characteristics of his race.
