A VALUELESS CHEQUE.
TWO YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. (Per Press Association^) HAMILTON, April 10. Two years’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Frederick Rushing, aged thirty-six, when he appeared in the Hamilton Supreme Court on a charge of issuing a valueless cheque for £ /. It was stated that accused had a long list of previous convictions. Mr Justice Smith remarked that accused had been living a life of crime since 1924. As far back as 1917 there were convictions against him. If he was again convicted he would he declared an habitual criminal.
