EX-DICTATOR OF GREECE. United Preys Association—Copyright.) ATHENS, April 8. The ex-Dictator, General Pangalos, who spent 2J years in prison awaiting trial, was to-day convicted, after a three weeks' trial by Senators, of granting concessions under conditions, onerous to the Treasury, or savouring of corruption. He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and five years' loss of political rights. Other charges are pending.
The Republic of Greece was proclaimed on May 1. 1925, the Regent, Admiral Koundouriotis, becoming l ; temporary head of the State. He held this nosition through the vicissitudes of nolitical turmoil until March 19. 1926\ when General Pangalos forced him out, to he overturned, himself on August 22, when Admiral Koundouriotis was again installed as President.
