COMPENSATION ACT.
ATTITUDE OF LABOUR. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 8. In an address last evening, Air Arthur Cook, National President of the Alliance of Labour, dealt with the Workers’ Compensation Act and explained the attitude of the alliance toward the compensation committee inquiry. Air James Roberts, secretary of the Alliance, addressed the meeting on the right of the worker to employment or sustenance.
A resolution was carried:—“That this meeting of Dunedin trade unionists endorses the action of the Alliance in refusing to co-operate with the committee, as the Government should have consulted the trade unions in the appointment of the workers’ representative.”
