Resignation.—After serving over a quarter of a century as house surgeon at the Ashburton Hospital, Dr. Trevor tendered his resignation at to-day’s meeting of the committee on account of failing health. County Rates.—At a meeting of the County Council to-day the chairman stated, that the sum of £4357 had been received in rates for 1903-4, while the sum of £l9 18s od was still outstanding. The sum of £4831 19s 5d had been received on account of the 1904-5 rate, on which the sum of £325 was still owing. Presentation at Springburn.—On Thursday night the schoolroom at Springburn was packed, when a farewell social was tendered Mr Kelley, the student in charge of the Presbyterian Church, who is leaving to further his studies at the Theological Hall at Dunedin. Mr John La-mbie’s Departure.—A pleasant little function took place at the Road Board Office, Rakaia. yesterday, when a number of ratepayers met to say good-bye to Mr John Lambie, chairman of the Board, who is soon leaving on a trip to the Old Country. Valedictory references to Mr Lambie’s services, and wishes for a pleasant journey, were expressed by Messrs Morland, C, A. John Rennie and H. Harrison. Mr Morland presented Mr Lambie with a Kaiapoi rug.
