The State’s elections resulted in the Butler (Liberal) Government being defeated after three years of office. The probable State parties in the new Parliament and that in the old Parliament respectively are:—
In the Wooroora electorate the position of the Premier (Mr R. L. Butler) is still in doubt, and he will have difficulty in retaining his seat. There is a possibility of Mr Jenkins (Commissioner of Crown Lands) being defeated, and the Attorney-General (Mr Homburg) is being closely pressed, while the Minister of Education is by no means certain of being returned/ Contests were held in 42 constituencies, for which there were 95 candidates. All members of the Assembly and half the members of the Legislative Council went to the country.
