LONG TRIP BY GLIDER

A Buffalo report states that Frank Hawks has almost completed his transcontinental glide. Three times siijce last Sunday, when he started from Los Angeles, his towline from the aeroplane has broken, but he has merely glided to earth, and made perfect landings each time. He has covered between 500 and 600 miles daily, sleeping at a hotel each night. To-day he came from Indianapolis, slipped bis tow rope at an altitude of 5000 feet, and dropped down half an hour later in front of the hangar.

Captain Frank M. Hawks is the holder of the record for a non-stop flight across America, from Los Angeles to New York, which he carried out in a Lockheed Vega monoplane a few months ago, taking a little over 18 hours.
