Acclimatisation Society.—A-commit-tee meeting of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society was held in Miss Graham s office last evening. Present • Messrs P. H. Cox (chairman), Jl S. Tennant, Field, Sheldon, Huston, Cambridge and A. 3. Shury (hon. sec.). It was reported that nominations for the committee had closed on March 27, and as only the necessary number were nominated, there would be no ballot. Mr bheldon was indignant that he was not nominated, and had received no notice ol nominations being called for. lhe secretary said that as'he did not nominate and no one else did and as he was a member of the comnnttee who revised the rules, under which there was no necessity to advertise, he had only himself to blame that he was not nominated. After a \ eiy acrimonious discussion it was decided that nominations be reopened and advertised for, to be in the hands of the secretary by the 7th inst. The Domain. The Domain" this afternoon presented an exceptionally animated appearance, when several clubs help practice games in view of the approaching winter season. The Southern Cross and Hakatere Football rui ™ pay ® d , a scratch match, while Old Bows indulged in practice on the Dial. The Hockey Club opened its season by playing a scratch match.
