MINIATURE RIFLES.

THE METHVEN CLUB. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Methven Miniature Rifle Club was held last evening, when Mr S. Hyland presided over a good attendance! The report stated that the past season had been one of progress in all departments. The shooting was rather below the usual standard, partly owing to the harsh system of checking imposed. The club championship was won by J. E. Caw, with S.. Hyland.runner-up. The Club Cup was won outright by J. Kelleher. The Wilding Cup, shot for on four occasions, was Avon by *B. Hyland (twice), H. Noble and R. L. Haskett, each receiving a miniature cup. Teams from the club visited Mount Somers and Dorie for Shield matches, and competed at the championship meetings at Timaru, Ohristchureh and Ashburton. The teams did not meet with a great deal of success, but individual members were.fairly successful. Visits to Methven were paid by teams from Mount Somers and Ashburton, while a match against the Methveni Gun Club created a deal of interest, as did a ladies' novelty match, which attracted 19 entries.

The balance-sheet showed receipts £129 3s. lid, and expenditure £lO9 6s sd, leaving a credit balance in hand of £l9 17s 6d. The assets were £262 16s 4d, and the liabilities £126 15s.
