SHORT RUN OF REVUE.

WITHDRAWN FOR REHEARSAL.

OSCAR ASCHE AND CRITICS.

LONDON, March 12. The production by Mr Oscar Asche of "Intimate Revue" proved rather overintimate, according to some first-night critics, who asserted that they were inclined to join in giggling with the audience at the unaccustomed glimpses ot what was occurring behind the scenes The general imprefsion was that there was a lack of, rehearsals, extending to the stage-hands. Sometimes the curtains dropped on the performers, sometimes thev re-opened giving intimate views of the between-scene preparations. The lighting effects also showed confusion of intention and effect. ... . . The more serious criticisms complained that the chorus lacked rehearsals and the whole show lacked "pen" but stated that it would be a good show after a few performances. . The management took the criticisms in good part and hurriedly decided to withdraw the revue immediately tor firther rehearsals. Notices have been sent out to the public announcing that h will not be played to-night. The entire cast was summoned to an atterroon rehearsal. The producers hope for a fresh start, and possibly a iresli edition of the play, in about a. fortnight Meanwhile historians and logicians are disputing whether it can be regarded as a record shortest run.
