TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From "Guardian," March 14, 1905) Personal.—Mr F. Rands, who was admitted as a probationer to the Wesleyan Ministry, at the recent Wellington Conference has been appointed Home Missiontry at North Dunedin. He will probably leave Ashburton in about a fortnight. Messrs G. Coe and J. Cochrane who have been in the Lakes County on a two weeks' holiday, returned to Ashburton by this afternoon's express. Borough Roll Alterations.—The following alterations have recently been made in the Borough Valuation Roll: T.S. 389 and 408, F. Ferriman to W. H. Woods; T.S. 409, same to Mrs H. Funge: T.S. .388, same to C. H. Argvle; T.S. 271, M. Wallis to G. Bowman; T.S. 801. E. A. James to G. Traill (Fairton); TJ3. 803-4, M. Morirrty to E. F. Hughes; T.5.'809-10, F. Ferriman to J. D. Gobbe. Southern Cross Football Club.—A meeting of the Southern Cross Football Club was held in their rooms last evening. There was a full attendance of members, Mr A. Santy presiding. Messrs J. Sturgeon, W. Reid, H .and F. Cookson, W. and A. Walker, and W. Fitzgerald were elected new members.
Prolific Crops.—Mr Thomas White, Flemington, has threshed out a prolific ero'N of ryegrass which yielded 60 bushels to the acre. The sample was heavy and bright, and Mr White disposed of the product at 3s per bushel. Mr Dunbar, St. Andrew's has threshed an average of 118 bushels of oats per acre from a 12 acre paddock. The oats were Gartons, and i-hey left the mill a first-class sample. Tinwald School Committee.—A meeting of the Tinwald School Committee was held last evening. Present:—Messrs Clothier (chairman), J. Hampton, J. Fergie, and W. Cobb. The headmaster reported the roll to be 104, and the average attendance 85.1. The attendance was not considered satisfactory, and it was honed that parents would send their children more regularly to school.
