MOTOR-CAR BURNED.
FIRE ON MITCHAM ROAD. MR MORGAN HURT ON HANDS. A three-seater Rugby motor-car, owned by the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, and driven by Mr D. A. Morgan, of Oak Grove. Ashburton, was destroyed by fire on the road near Mitcham this morning. Mr Morgan had come to a standstill near a water-race when the engine backfired and the car burst into flames. It is thought that the explosion burst the pptrol pipe. Air Morgan, who was alone, received burns about his hands when endeavouring to remove his belongings from the burning car. In this he was not successful, the contents being destroyed. A gorse fence also caught fire but the flames were soon suppressed.
