DR. COOK RELEASED.
WILL NOT GO TO ARCTIC AGAIN. TOO OLD TO STAND COLD. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) OTTAWA, March 7. A report from Montreal states that Dr. Cook (whose claim to have reached the North Pole some years ago was proved l fabs) was released on parole to-dav, after serving five of his sentence" of 14 years. He is allegedly penniless, and has sworn a pauper's oath' to escape a fine of £2400 imposed with the sentence. Dr. Cook said: "I hardly believe I shall go to the Arctic again. I am getting old, and I doubt if I could endure the terrible cold."
