POST OFFICE BURNED.

NEW PLYMOUTH, March 7. Fire destroyed the post office and Fitzgerald's general store at Urenui late last night. The desperate efforts of a bucket brigade saved Howell's boarding-house next door, although the wall was' scorched. The post office had four living rooms attached,, and all were destroyed. The mail matter and more valuable fittings, and most of the postmaster's furniture, were rescued. The blaze originated in the store, which was rapidly reduced to ashes. The fire leaned arrcss a- right-of-way and scon the post office was burning fiercely. The store was insured for £250 'and ths- stock for £llOO. The furniture of the postmaster (Mr Lovelidge)' was insured for £250. The greater pp.rt of it was saved.
